Fastway Trailer | e2® Hitch Torque Specifications

Category Towing Tips

The e2® hitch provides built-in sway control for faster, easier, and smarter towing. The e2’s rigid brackets provide two points of steel-on-steel friction, constantly working to fight sway. Its unique design provides a level ride while minimizing sway caused by winds, semi-trailers, and sudden maneuvers. The built-in sway control is most effective when the bolts and nuts are properly torqued on a regular basis. Proper torque will not only keep you safer on the road, it will extend the life of your hitch. We recommend checking your hitch a few times each season, so you can enjoy the best performance from your e2 hitch.

Whether you’re towing a trailer or some other cargo, it is essential to make sure that you have the proper safety systems in place. A sway control hitch helps reduce unpredictable movements, such as side-to-side rocking or fishtailing, when traveling on uneven terrain. This type of hitch also provides stability while the vehicle is turning and helps maintain control whether going up hill or down. In addition to being secure, a sway control hitch reduces stress on the vehicle’s suspension system and prevents wear and tear of tires that can result from unintended forces on them. Finally, a sway control hitch will also help improve your overall driving experience as you’ll have more confidence and peace of mind that your load is secured properly.

Fastway’s e2 Hitch offers top quality sway control thanks to its top of the line engineering. To install the e2 hitch, you’ll need a torque wrench capable of 250 ft-lbs of torque. Both of the shank bolts will need to be tightened to 250 ft-lbs of torque. The bolts holding the bracket to the frame should be torqued to 65 ft-lbs and the nuts for the L-brackets should be torqued to 75 ft-lbs.
