The angle set bolt is a single bolt underneath the hitch head that, when kept tight, unifies the head and the shank – eliminating any movement between the two. When the angle set bolt and spacer rivet are tight to the shank, they act like one solid unit to transfer weight through to the tow vehicle. If either are loose, you are putting undue stress on the shank bolts and hitch head.

The 6-12K hitch angle set bolt is a grade 5 bolt.
